Sakai Takayuki Gin San damascus kitchen knives

The knives from the Sakai Takayuki Gin San collection are very special. These knives are made by hand by two craftsmen: Mr. Yamatsuka Shogo and Mr. Yamatsuka Mitsuo. Their collaboration is as follows: Mr. Yamatsuka Shogo forges the blades and Mr. Yamatsuka Mitsuo takes care of the sharpening. Both men are masters in their trade. These knives are still made in the artisanal, Japanese way. Knives of the very highest quality, future heirlooms.

Features of the Sakai Takayuki Gin San Damascus series

These blades feature a core made from 'Silver Steel'. This steel was named after the silver paper in which steel manufacturer Hitachi supplies this steel to the blacksmith. It is a special type of steel that in many ways has the same properties as the carbon steels we know from the blue and white paper. However, Silver Steel is stainless! This makes maintenance and daily use just a little easier.

There are 33 layers of damascus folded around the core of Silver Steel. The subtle etchings in the steel are very stylish. No over-the-top design or high-contrast pattern.

The Japanese design style of the knife is emphasized by the choice of an octagonal handle made from magnolia wood. The shape of this handle is called a WA-style handle. The bolster is made from buffalo horn. It's a relatively simplistic handle that really allows the blade to shine.
