The **Laguiole en Aubrac Sauveterre amourette and bone** is a slim and subtle gentleman's knife. It has an amourette and bone handle. Amourette, also known as snakewood or letterwood, is an exotic wood with a luxurious appearance. Pure class! The other part of the handle is made from white bone. This is a very strong material that has long been used for tool handles. It is still used today not only because it is very hard, but primarily because it looks beautiful.

Just as the Laguiole knife belongs to the village of Laguiole, the Sauveterre knife is inextricably linked to the village of Sauveterre-de-Rouergue, once voted the most beautiful village in France. This elegant gentleman's knife is the perfect match.

The spine of the handle features beautiful filing work. This is done by hand by the craftsmen at Laguiole en Aubrac. There is a beautifully shaped leaf where the blade meets the handle. From there, the lines flow smoothly to the subtly shaped blade. A single-sided swedge, the sharpening at the top of the blade and the engraving give the blade that little bit extra. In the middle of the handle there is a steel bolster with an engraving of a sage plant. Part of the Sauveterre coat of arms.

You open the Sauveterre with two hands. When opened, a slipjoint holds the blade in place. This is not a true lock, merely some resistance to keep the knife from closing. When closing the knife, it's important that you carefully lower the blade into the handle. If you don't do this carefully, the blade may hit the inside of the handle, which could affect the sharpness of the blade.

Of course, wood and bone are natural products, so each knife is unique. Your specimen may differ from the model on the photograph.
