The Corsican ‘Sperone’ series (Sperone means ‘spur’ in the Corsican dialect) is a somewhat more solid and robust series than other knives in the Fontenille Pataud range. The outline of the island of Corsica is embossed on the spring and on the blade is the renowned ‘Moor’s Head’, the symbol of Corsica.   
  


All Fontenille Pataud knives are manufactured from only the finest, top-quality materials. The bee and spring are forged from one piece of steel and are not welded together. Everything about these knives reflects quality and every time you use these knives, you are able to appreciate this superb quality!

Om maar gelijk met de deur in huis te vallen...dit mes stinkt!! Letterlijk...gekozen voor de ruw buffelhoorn versie, waarbij je dus werkelijk de buffel ruikt.
Mensen met een verfijnde neus kunnen dus beter een versie nemen met een houten handgreep. Nu moet ik wel zeggen dat na twee weken gebruik de geur iets begint
te verflauwen maar helemaal weg zal het niet gaan vermoed ik.
Dan het mes zelf, het wordt aangeduidt als een Corsicaans traditioneel mes, enig speurwerk op internet doet me dat verhaal in twijfel trekken hoewel designers
Zuria uit Bonifacio schijnen te komen. Dus laten we het erop houden dat het ontwerp van Corsicaanse hand is en dat het mes gefabriceerd wordt door Fontenille
Pataud. En dat laatste merk je goed. Nadat ik eerder al de Fontenille Pataud sport had gekocht bij Knives and Tools nu dus de Sperone. Ik mag wel zeggen dat
de Sperone een evolutie is van de Vendetta serie, de overeenkomsten zijn evident. Een prachtig mes met wederom mooi vijlwerk, En alles sluit naadloos, zonder
enige speling, op elkaar aan. Bewonderenswaardig hoe ze het bij zo'n eenvoudig ontwerp zo mooi voor mekaar krijgen.
Het mes wijkt qua design enorm af van de sport serie, het is weliswaar een groot mes (lees lang) maar heel mooi slank qua handgreep en lemmet. Het lemmet
doet me een beetje denken aan de stiletto's die je vroeger nog wel eens zag (maar nu verboden zijn), het straalt op de een of andere manier iets agressiefs uit,
ook de punt bijvoorbeeld is ten gevolge van het smalle lemmet erg spits, je zou er zo een splinter mee uit een vinger kunnen wippen. Door het slanke ontwerp is
het gemakkelijker om met dit mes een appel te schillen dan met de sport omdat bij het kantelen van het lemmet beter de rondingen gevolgd kunnen worden
op het moment dat je het klokhuis eruit snijdt (binnensnede).
Dan voor wat betreft de scherpte, het werd mooi scherp geleverd, toch heb ik het nog even op een 5000 korrel nagepolijst waardoor het nog scherper is geworden.
Verder heb ik het mes laten graveren met het opschrift "Vendetta", mooi gecentreerd onder het gegraveerde hoofd. Dit aangegeven bij de bestelling, kreeg op zondag!!
een terugmelding dat het volkomen duidelijk was en dat het aan de graveerder voorgelegd zou worden. Qua lettertype had ik aangegeven wat ik wilde, qua grootte had
ik de graveerder de vrije hand gegeven met het verzoek om het qua formaat af te stemmen op het formaat van het hoofd. Ik moet zeggen, het is goed begrepen want
het is werkelijk perfect uitgevoerd. Dus ook wat betreft de service van Knives and Tools weer een dikke tien, net als de vorige keer.
Samengevat, ik ben erg blij met het mes, een mooie aanvulling op mijn collectie, het zal zeker niet het laatste zijn.

Mooi. En functioneel. Echt voor de liefhebber. 
Perfecte levering/ service. 

Mooi stoer mes, voldoet zeker aan de verwachting. Ruwe buffelhoorn: mooi. Ligt lekker in de hand. Iedere keer weer genieten als ik hem gebruik (dagelijks bij maaltijd).
