The **Spyderco Military 2 Salt Black DLC CPM MagnaCut C36GMCBKP2 Black G10** is a next-level version of the popular Military 2 with CPM MagnaCut steel. This version is part of Spyderco's famous Salt collection. This knife series consists of knives that are specifically designed for maritime purposes. Every single part, from the blade to the screws, is corrosion resistant. Spyderco fitted this Salt version with a milled-out bi-directional texture. This texture gives a lot of extra grip in wet conditions, or when wearing gloves while working.




The Spyderco Military 2 Salt Black DLC CPM MagnaCut C36GMCBKP2 Black G10 pocket knife is a hefty EDC knife in the colour black. With its blade length of 10,2 cm, it's especially suited for demanding cutting tasks. This is not a compact knife! When closed, it measures 14 cm in length and it weighs 125 g.



Opening the Spyderco Military 2 Salt Black DLC CPM MagnaCut C36GMCBKP2 Black G10 pocket knife with one hand is very easy thanks to the thumb hole. Once opened, the sturdy Compression Lock ensures that the blade is locked and won't accidentally close during use. The Compression Lock is an invention by Sal Glesser and his son Eric Glesser of  Spyderco. In terms of operation, it's kind of like a reverse liner lock. However, in practice, the Compression Lock is much stronger. This is because the lock wedges laterally between the blade tang and the stop pin, rather than just making contact with the blade. What's more, a Compression Lock has a very high 'fidget factor'.



## Blade made of CPM Magnacut steel
The blade of this Spyderco Military, Salt is made of CPM Magnacut steel, possibly the most revolutionary steel of the 21st century. MagnaCut offers an unrivalled balance between sharpness retention, toughness, corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. Since the release of CPM MagnaCut in 2021, it has become one of the most popular steels in the world of knives. The MagnaCut blade of this pocket knife measures 10,2 cm in length.

## History of CPM Magnacut 
This type of steel was developed by Dr Larrin Thomas, a metallurgist who has dedicated his career to improving knife steel. He is the son of Devin Thomas, a famous damascus smith who supplied Chris Reeve Knives with steel for many years. Dr Larrin Thomas works in the automotive industry but is passionate about knife steels. He thought it should be possible to do better, and together with Crucible Industries came up with CPM MagnaCut. The blade is finished with a DLC coating, which stands for ‘Diamond Like Carbon’. It's a very hard coating that is even harder than the steel. This makes DLC very scratch-resistant, and this coating protects the blade against corrosion. DLC is very hard, but it is also only a thin layer: eventually, you will always see signs of use.



## G10 handle

The Spyderco Military 2 Salt Black DLC CPM MagnaCut C36GMCBKP2 Black G10 pocket knife features a handle made from G10 and measures 14 cm in length. G10 is a composite material made of glass fibre and synthetic resin. With its subtle texture, G10 feels great in hand and offers plenty of grip. This knife was designed by an absolute dream team: Sal and Eric Glesser. This father-son duo is integral to Spyderco. Sal founded the company in 1976, Eric grew up in the family business.
