The Pro-Tech Malibu 5401 Stonewashed Magnacut Reverse Tanto, Black Aluminum pocket knife is a nice EDC pocket knife in the colour black. With its blade length of 8,4 cm, this knife is ideal for easy carrying. When closed, it's only 10,6 cm long, and it weighs 85 g.



The Pro-Tech Malibu 5401 Stonewashed Magnacut Reverse Tanto, Black Aluminum pocket knife opens quickly thanks to the flipper. Because the knife is equipped with ceramic ball bearrings, the action is very smooth. Once opened, a button lock ensures the knife won't unintentionally snap shut during use. In terms of ease of use, this is one of the best locking mechanisms on the market.



## Blade made of CPM Magnacut steel
The blade of this Pro-Tech  is made of CPM Magnacut steel, possibly the most revolutionary steel of the 21st century. MagnaCut offers an unrivalled balance between sharpness retention, toughness, corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening. Since the release of CPM MagnaCut in 2021, it has become one of the most popular steels in the world of knives. The MagnaCut blade of this pocket knife measures 8,4 cm in length.

## History of CPM Magnacut 
This type of steel was developed by Dr Larrin Thomas, a metallurgist who has dedicated his career to improving knife steel. He is the son of Devin Thomas, a famous damascus smith who supplied Chris Reeve Knives with steel for many years. Dr Larrin Thomas works in the automotive industry but is passionate about knife steels. He thought it should be possible to do better, and together with Crucible Industries came up with CPM MagnaCut. The ‘stonewash’ process was chosen for the finish of this blade. The stonewash process involves the blade being placed inside a drum with ceramic stones, or media, and then vibrated or tumbled for several hours. The result is a finish that looks precisely polished or roughened depending on the version. The advantage of stonewashing, however, is that signs of use are much less noticeable. That makes it a popular choice for knives that see a lot of use.



## Aluminium handle
The handle of the Pro-Tech  is made from aluminium. The handle measures 10,6 cm in length. Aluminium is pleasantly lightweight and easy for the manufacturer to work with. As a result, it is a very popular choice for handles. Aluminium comes in many different grades or alloys. Most manufacturers opt for one of the more durable types of aluminium for knife handles, often using the same quality as the type used for aircraft construction.
