The **Otter Mercator 10-426 RG K** is a large pocket knife. The handle is made from stainless steel, the blade from C75 carbon steel. This Mercator is not enhanced with a pocket clip. The lanyard eye enables you to easily add a lanyard.

## C75 blade

The blade is made from C75, a type of carbon steel. Do keep in mind that this type of steel will create a patina in time. This is a blue-grey colour that will make the knife look even more characteristic. This type of steel is not corrosion resistant. You open the blade with the nailnick and lock it with the help of a backlock. The handle is made from stainless steel.

## Mercator Cat

The Mercator Cat dates back to World War II. The Americans took the knife to the States after the war where it became known as the 'Black Cat Knife'. Until this day it is still a popular knife in the United States. The sign K55K printed on the handle represents the following: 'K' for Kaufmann (the original developer), the '55' for Hochstrasse 55 (the company's original address), and 'K' for the cat symbol.

The **Otter** knives are traditionally produced in Solingen. To this day, they are carefully handmade and sharpened. The range includes knives for recreational, household, garden and outdoor use. There are multiple versions of every Otter knife. For example, different types of steel are used, such as carbon steel or German stainless steel. We also see differences in the handle materials, often natural products such as deer bone or hardwood.
