The **MKM Campo 7 Black Canvas Micarta** is a premium pocket knife, designed in the iconic style of Swiss pocket knives. And yet this knife is produced a little more south: in Maniago, Italy. It is made from amazing materials.

For many of these types of knives, the emphasis is placed on the different tools. The steel type is almost forgotten! When it comes to the Campo 7, MKM does it a bit differently. The tools are great, of course, but the blade stands out. The blade is made from MagnaCut steel. This is an extremely wear and tear resistant type of steel. It retains its sharpness very well, so you won't have to sharpen it that often. As a result, the MKM Campo 7 is a top-quality, high-end EDC pocket knife.

The handle also looks amazing. Often these types of knives are enhanced with a handle made from plastic or aluminium. But MKM decided to use stunning micarta for this handle. This is a composite material made from canvas and synthetic resin. It looks great and offers enough grip. But even better is the patina this micarta forms: because of the oil of your hands it can change colour a little. Each knife will become unique!

In addition to the MagnaCut blade there are six other foldable tools. A pair of scissors, a bottle opener with screwdriver, a can opener, a corkscrew, a crosshead screwdriver and a fork for picnics. All tools can be opened with two hands. They are kept in place by slipjoints. Not a real lock, merely some resistance. As such, the MKM Campo 7 is legal in many countries.

## What are the origins of MKM Knives?

MKM is a cooperation between Viper, LionSteel, Fox and Mercury. Four masters working in the Italian knife industry. It is no coincidence that they all come from the city of Maniago in northern Italy. It is the knife capital of the south of Europe. MKM stands for Maniago Knife Makers. This MKM Campo 7 is made by Mercury.

Wat een droom zakmes moest worden, liep eerst uit op een sisser.
Voor mij bevat dit zakmes/deze configuratie alles wat je nodig hebt als EDC. Spijtig is wel dat je merkt dat MKM eigenlijk nog niet eens aan de schouders komt van een andere (rode) reus in de wereld van de SAKs.
Qua materiaal is er geen enkele twijfel dat dit zakmes een topper is. De micarta is mooi afgewerkt en natuurlijk de keuze voor MAgnaCut maakt van dit zakmes een van de eerste van de klas. MAAR er is meer, en ook dit moet aangekaart worden. In eerste instantie is dit eigenlijk gewoon een onveilig mes. Dit komt doordat het lemmet te hoog op de backspacer staat/zit. Dit komt doordat de hiel van het lemmet te hoog is. Resultaat, het mestopje steek als het ware uit boven de heft. Je kan je dus al inbeelden hoe pijnlijk het kan worden als je naar je mes grijpt in de broekzak en aan het puntje blijft hangen.
Daarnaast zijn er verschillende tools in het zakmes dat zeer moeilijk/stug te openen zijn.
MKM heeft dus wel degelijk nog wat werk om ook op deze markt een topper te worden.
