The **Medford Gentleman Jack 2, 25-GJ-02, S45VN Tumbled Tanto Blade, Black DLC Titanium Handle, Flamed Hardware** is different from most models from Medford. It is a traditional slipjoint! A cool pocket knife for the true gentleman, this knife is made of high-quality materials with a unique colour palette. The hollow grind on the blade was applied by hand. This is a unique feature: only few producers apply a hollow grind by hand. You open the knife with two hands with the help of the nail nick. A slipjoint offers resistance to make sure it won't accidentally close. But it is not a real lock. As such, you can legally carry the Gentleman Jack in many places in Europe.




You open the Medford with two hands. To make this easier, there's a nail nick which gives you a little extra grip using your fingernail. This pocket knife is not equipped with a full lock, only with a slipjoint mechanism. This provides some resistance to prevent the knife from snapping shut during normal use. However, if you press on the spine of the blade, the knife will shut.



## Blade made of CPM S45VN steel
The blade of this Medford Gentleman Jack is made of CPM S45VN steel. This is a premium type of stainless steel made by Crucible Industries in the US. S45VN retains its sharpness well, is pretty tough and very corrosion resistant. CPM S45VN  was developed as a successor to CPM S35VN. S45VN retains its sharpness even better than S35VN, and is even more resistant to corrosion too.



The ‘stonewash’ process was chosen for the finish of this blade. The stonewash process involves the blade being placed inside a drum with ceramic stones, or media, and then vibrated or tumbled for several hours. The result is a finish that looks precisely polished or roughened depending on the version. The advantage of stonewashing, however, is that signs of use are much less noticeable. That makes it a popular choice for knives that see a lot of use.



## Titanium handle

The handle of this Medford Gentleman Jack is made of titanium and measures 10,1 cm in length. Titanium is a fantastic high-tech material. It is an excellent choice for the handle of a pocket knife for several reasons: titanium is very strong, lightweight and it is flexible. Moreover, titanium can be machined very precisely and a wide range of different finishes are possible. To be exact, the handle is made of a titanium alloy. Small amounts of aluminium and vanadium are added to pure titanium to make it even more suitable for use as a pocket knife handle.
