The **Böker Stockman 117162** is a chic little knife in the traditional Stockman pattern. Stockman knives were originally used by livestock farmers for a large variety of cutting tasks around the farm. Whereas a Stockman is usually fitted with three blades, Böker has left it at one blade in this version.




You open the Böker with two hands. To make this easier, there's a nail nick which gives you a little extra grip using your fingernail. This pocket knife is not equipped with a full lock, only with a slipjoint mechanism. This provides some resistance to prevent the knife from snapping shut during normal use. However, if you press on the spine of the blade, the knife will shut.



## Blade made of C75 steel
The blade of the Böker Stockman Rosewood 117162 pocket knife is made from C75, a so-called 'carbon steel type.' This means that this steel contains a high level of carbon, making it very easy to sharpen to a razor-sharp edge. Depending on the heat treatment, C75 can also be very tough. This makes it a popular steel type for outdoor knives, as you can easily sharpen them in the field. Chemically speaking, C75 is almost identical to the well-known 1075 carbon steel in the United States.

What you should know is that C75 is not stainless. It discolours quickly and will rust if not properly maintained. The advantage is that C75 naturally forms a patina, making the steel much less susceptible to the elements. Always clean C75 after use and regularly apply a drop of oil to the blade.



## Rosewood handle
The handle of this pocket knife is made from one of the many varieties of rosewood. This tropical wood features dark markings and is exceptionally hard. Naturally, this is a natural material, which means every knife is unique!

The confusing thing about rosewood is that there are countless different types, originating from various trees across different countries and even continents. The names also differ between languages. However, what remains true is that all these species provide exceptionally beautiful wood. Super chic!



## Traditional: the Stockman pattern
The Stockman is the quintessential cowboy knife. It is typically equipped with three blades for various tasks around the farm. These knives can be used for anything from preparing food and cutting ropes to castrating calves. For this last cutting task, a spey-point blade is often included. The handle of a Stockman knife usually has a subtle S-shape. While three blades are common, Stockman pocket knives can also be found with one or two blades.
