The **Bark River Occipital** is a remarkable hunting knife, designed by Jim Skelton. This famous YouTube reviewer has been producing excellent fixed knives for a couple of years. You immediately recognize his characterizing style, so also this Bark River version of his Occipital design.

 The Bark River Occipital has quite the 'belly'. As such it is great when gutting game. The remarkable shape of the handle ensures that you can hold it in many different ways. It is practical to know that the heel of the edge isn't sharpened, because you can sometimes end up on it with your finger. Better safe than sorry! We believe that you can also use the Occipital as an excellent outdoor cooking knife. A type of mini chef's knife.

 The blade is made from CPM 154. A premium type of stainless steel that retains its sharpness well. As you might expect from Bark River the knife is razor-sharp. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can [maintain by stropping it](/en/ct/stropping.htm).

 The handle is made from micarta. A strong and light-weight material, made from linen and synthetic resin. Feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold circumstances.

 The Bark River Occipital comes with a solid leather sheath. This sheath has a belt loop with enough room for belts up to 5.0 cm. You can carry it both vertically and horizontally. The remarkable thing about this sheath is that it contains a strong magnet that makes sure the knife stays in place.

 Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when you are working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
