The Bark River Edwin Forrest Bowie is a bowie knife with a remarkable story. American bowie experts claim that this is the original design of the bowie knife that Jim Bowie used during the famous Sandbar duel in 1827. A one-on-one dual that ended in a large battle where, American pioneer and local hero, James Bowie, was seriously injured. After the fight, during his rehabilitation, he met actor Edwin Forrest. James Bowie donated his knife to Edwin Forrest for his play. Combined with some newspaper clippings of the infamous battle. The knife was found in the 1980s at the Forest Family Estate in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. After which this type of knife was given the legendary name 'bowie knife'. Named after James Bowie.
