Absolutely excellent product have used a stone before but the sharpness of the edge on my knives is amazing. It just takes that worry of getting the angle right and can concentrate on more consistent pressure on your strokes. A must for anyone getting into knife sharpening and don't have hours and years to perfect your form on a stone .

I initially bought this to sharpen a nice folding knife I got for Xmas which my Shapton Japanese stones couldn't handle. So I opted for the slightly more expensive elite version which came with the courser shaping grit plates. It did a fantastic job. No hassles with trying to keep the correct angle which for me was a massive bonus. I've managed to bodge the edge on knives before just doing it freehand on stones. Honestly, it was so much quicker than stone grinding that I'm halfway through sharpening all the knives in the house. This is one of the very few items I've bought that exceeded my expectations. I'm still a bit hesitant about the longevity of diamond plates compared to my stones but 17 knives done already and good as new. No visible wear whatsoever. I would definitely recommend this product for all kinds of knives. Although I'll stick to my Shapton stones for my straight razors.
