Which Victorinox will suit you best?

The **Victorinox SwissTool Spirit MXBS** is the baby brother of the SwissTool MXBS. The Spirit has 23 functions. Completely made from stainless steel and polished. The Spirit comes with a MOLLE compatible nylon sheath with belt loop. With this solid sheath you can easily hang the SwissTool from your belt. The closure is made from Velcro and therefore easy to open. In this sheath you can easily store your multi-tool and take it with you. 

The main advantage of the Victorinox multi-tools is that all tools are easily accessible without first having to open the pliers. When opened the tools are immediately locked. As such the tool can never close when you don't want it to, also making it perfect for heavy-duty tasks. This work horse will regularly come in handy. At home, at work or outside in nature. 

## SwissTool MXBS versus SwissTool Spirit MXBS

The main difference between these two models is the design and the size. The normal version of the MXBS is a little more angular, robust and larger. In addition, the handle is enhanced with a ruler. The Spirit MXBS is slimmer, smaller and the design is more elegant. Other than that the multi-tools are completely identical. 

## Most important tools

  * **Pliers** 

You can open the pliers by opening the handles. The beak has been enhanced with small serrations that offer you additional grip. The tip is relatively small for precise tasks, such as bending fish hooks. The spine of the beak is curved to make sure you can easily move around in tight corners and bend a wire with ease. The pliers has been enhanced with a wire cutter and wire stripper. The wire cutter is also great for cutting small sticks and stems. Good pliers come in handy more often than you might think. 

  * **Large knife** 

The knife is razor-sharp and has a cutting edge of no less than 6 cm. Once opened the knife will immediately be locked. As such the tool can never close when you don't want it to, also making it perfect for heavy-duty tasks. When opening and closing the blade you hear a familiar click. The knife is very solid and perfect for outdoor and survival purposes. 

  * **Wood saw** 

The solid serrations cover approximately 6.5 cm of the saw blade. Branches the size of a wrist are therefore easy to get through. The saw is thin. The spine is approximately 1.3 mm thick and the teeth 1.5 mm thick. Because the spine is smaller than the teeth the saw won't get stuck in the wood and it limits friction. In addition to living wood this saw can handle pallets and shelves. When gardening and working around the house the SwissTool is a true life-saver! 

  * **File** 

The file is enhanced with three sides that can all be used. A fine side that functions as a metal file, a rougher side for softer materials and a side that functions as a metal saw. This is the narrow base of the file and perfect when cutting through screws or nails.

Sehr gute Verarbeitung, liegt gut in der Hand! Passt! 

The Swisstool spirit MXBS is an excellent multitool. The choice of tools is exactly what I wanted and the standard of excellence that can be expected from Victorinox makes it even better. The one handed opening of the blade makes it very practical for contractors or for those who require a multitool for everyday DIY tasks. The black finish is also sleek. 

Na jaren een leatherman supertool 300 gebruikt te hebben was ik wel toe aan iets nieuws. de supertool 300 weegt bijna een ons meer dan deze multitool, en bied voor mij weinig meerwaarde. 

Over de Victorinox MXBS:

Dat alle tools van de buitenkant beschikbaar zijn is erg handig. De tools zelf zijn wat kleiner dan ik bij mijn Leatherman had, maar beiden ongeveer dezelfde functies. Erg fijn is de schaar en de "beitel/schraper". De afwezigheid van een houtzaag mis ik totaal niet. Zelfs bij een full size multitool vind ik deze dingen vreselijk onhandig in gebruik. 

De tang is goed te gebruiken bij deze multitool, maar ik denk dat ik hem iets spitser zal slijpen(dit doe ik bij al mijn multitools) zodat je met de punt fijne dingen pakken, en met de rest van de tang wat groter spul. 

De tools zijn zoals je van Victorinox gewend bent erg verfijnd en de afwerking van deze multitool is prachtig. 

De flessenopener/grote platte schroevendraaier is wat dikker uitgevoerd. Ik denk dat je daar behoorlijk mee kan wrikken als het nodig is. 

Mijn eindoordeel over de Spirit MXBS is dat je wat meerbetaald, maar een erg goed afgewerkte en zeer functionele multitool koopt met als grootste voordeel in mijn ogen de bescheiden 210 gram. 

Ik zou iedereen die een fullsize multitool gewend is en die aan de zware kant vind aanraden eens deze te proberen. Mijn Supertool 300 gaat in elk geval met pensioen.
