The **Rough Ryder Whittler** is a small, traditional pocket knife. It follows the classic whittler pattern, but is only smaller. This knife is enhanced with three blades: two pen blades and a sheepsfoot. Everything you need to cut wood. You open both with two hands and a slipjoint prevents unintentional closing, even though it won't completely lock the blades. As such you can legally carry this pocket knife in many places in Europe.



## 440A steel


440A is a fine, popular type of steel. It is corrosion resistant and easy to sharpen. It won't retain its sharpness for a really long time, but this is compensated by the fact that 440A is quite tough and easy to sharpen. This means you only occasionally have to maintain it a little to make sure you always keep a sharp knife close.



## Amber Bone handle


The handle is made from Amber Bone. This is cow bone that is enhanced with a texture and then coloured. This material has been used for over 100 years for knife handles and has become a *traditional* on its own. Bone, of course, is a natural material. As such small differences in terms of colour and shape, or any other small imperfections may occur.

Rough Ryder Knives is a brand with a rich history. For over 25 years this brand is known for its excellent price-quality ratio. Like Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Ryders these knives were named after, these knives are ready to be used. The prices are very appealing. However, this does mean that the finish might not always be perfect. Nothing major, and definitely in line with the prices. In case of natural materials such as wood, bone and horn it is possible to end up with small scratches around the pins. It is simply a part of the deal in this price range.

very nice traditional handle material, but a little smal in the hand

A nice little knife that comes with a good edge. Although the blades are a bit ”wobbly”, hard to be precis with hardwoods.

It is definitly worth the price 😀

Ideaal mes voor als je onderweg een tak vind die uitnodigt om te bewerken of als je voor je tent zit en uit verveling van een mooie tak een paddenstoel "whittled". Klein en compact maar ideaal voor kleine kunstwerkjes. 

Heel mooi mesje. Split-back spring zorgt voor prima retentie. Afwerking heel goed , mooie klassieke uitstraling. Coping en pen blade ook zeer bruikbaar maar wellicht te dun voor harder of (te) droog hout. Dit mesje is nmm ook zeer geschikt voor het werken met leer. 440a goed te onderhouden staal, even stroppen na gebruik. Blade-grind behoorlijk goed en consistent. Ik plaats deze review na een aantal maanden gebruik.
