I've heard of Robert Herder Knives as being incredibly thin, and their carbon steel being quite hard, not needing sharpening for years. I personally disagree with the second part, as it didn't arrive as sharp as it could've been, and the knife does need sharpening after a week or 2 of use. The knife isn't particularly expensive, but I wouldn't call it cheap, Opinel and Victorinox paring knives being perfectly acceptable competitors, at a lower price. Victorinox even comes with a better edge, so it is better for beginners who do not sharpen. That being said, even when not at it's sharpest, it cuts very, very well, thanks to the incredible geometry and thinness of the blade. It is a true laser, possibly inspired by japanese knives, and absolutely phases through onions. The wooden handle is very pleasant to touch, at first I thought it was too small but now I think it is perfect. It is a full tang design, so there is a little bit of toughness added (that being said, you should not abuse this knife). I have bought this one for myself and a blue plastic handled, stainless steel version for my mom, who has yet to recieve it. I will probably add a review once we unbox it, and after she uses it for a bit.

Lovely sharp knife with cute windmill detail that we take on picnics for cutting cheese and fruit. More satisfying than a penknife for picnic purposes.
