The KA-BAR 2211 Big Brother is literally the big brother of the well-known KA-BAR USMC. This is a large knife and it feels very sturdy. The handle has protective parts which keep you from getting close to the razor-sharp edge while using it. The blade is made out of 1095 carbon steel, which does not make this knife stainless. Luckily there is a black coating on the blade which makes maintenance a lot easier.

Excellent comme toujours, jamais de mauvaise surprise avec Ka-bar 


Un couteau de bonne facture, tranchant en sortie de boîte très bon, excellente prise en main frâce au manche en kraton. Vraiment impressionnant de par sa taille mais tout de même assez maniable. Clairement fait pour le combat (ou la collection). Trop léger pour couper du bois, trop grand pour les tailles fines, pour le bushcraft on oublie.
Pour les moins je dirais que l'épaisseur de la lame est insuffisante par rapport à la taille du couteau. Ça reste une lame forte, mais on regrette un peu sa légèreté. De plus les serrations ne sont pas affûtées. Il est cependant très facile d'y remédier, ce que j'ai fait aisément avec le "Skerper Basic d'aiguisage diamant" offert en promo par K&T.
Le fourreau quant à lui est très correct.
Globalement je ne suis pas déçu, il ira embellir ma collection!

Zowat alle "Rambo style" messen op de markt zijn gemaakt van slechte staalsoorten, zeer fragiel, en dienen slechts als decoratie.

Maar dit is een uitzondering. 

Je kunt dit mes prima gebruiken voor houtbewerking. Echter niet gebruiken voor het batoneren van dikke stukken hardhout. Daar is het mes niet voor gemaakt. De zwakte van het mes is namelijk de rat-tail tang maar dat weten de meesten.
