Great axe, I have previously used a heavier more conventional splitting maul and find this to split wood just as well but with less power in the blow. It is rare to have to use more than two blows or even full power to get through a log. I split mostly hardwood, ash / sycamore. A friend has the smaller X25 axe which I find a little light but still does a great job. I have been used to swinging axes and hammers most of my life so my preference is for heavier weights

Great axe bit pricey but sharp and sturdy. Should last a lifetime as long as its kept sharp and looked after.
