The **Fällkniven S1 Pro** is the improved version of the well-known Fällkniven S1: the preferred knife of the Swedish army. For years this has been a very popular knife amongst outdoor enthusiasts. The convex edge is very sharp and very strong. Cutting wood and many other tasks will become a piece of cake. The Fällkniven S1 Pro is an all-round fixed knife that can withstand the most extreme circumstances. The thermorun handle offers enough good grip, even with wet hands. The tang of the blade runs all the way to the pommel, for optimal strength.


 Although many believe the Fällkniven S1 to be the ultimate large survival knife, Fällkniven felt there was still some room for improvement. That is why the Fällkniven S1 Pro was developed.


## Differences Fällkniven Pro collection


The Fällkniven Pro-collection is the long awaited successor to the very popular 'regular' F1, A1 and S1 collections. The VG10 core was replaced by top-quality CoS cobalt steel. This type of steel is even better when it comes to sharpness retention and won't chip as easily. The entire blade is also thicker for an even stronger knife. This is not only the case with the visible (cutting) part of the blade, the tang is also larger and thicker.


The thermorun finger guard was replaced by a steel finger guard, for more firmness and an improved balance. But that is not all, the convex grind of the blade was also improved.


Just like the Zytel sheath. It is now even more sustainable and easier to use with the MOLLE-system.

Belle lame, bien équilibré, correspond à la description. Je ne regrette pas mon achat.

Na de klassieke F1 toch gevallen voor de S1 Pro. Zeker geen spijt van, een hoop geld (al krijg je er een mooie pelicancase en DC steen bij) maar dan heb je ook wat in handen.

Een flink mes waarmee je toch nog prima kan snijden. Voor groente snijden of een appeltje veuls te dik, het kan maar.... Haringen en feathersticks gaan perfect. Tot dit mes pakte ik om kleine stammetjes te splijten toch altijd een bijltje maar heb inmiddels het licht gezien ;) Met een mes als dit is battoning veel gecontroleerder en daarmee veiliger dan een bijl (voor dunnere stammetjes).

Hakken gaat ook wel maar persoonlijk pak ik dan toch een bijltje en zou ander de A1 adviseren.

Enige 'minpunt', hoewel ik geen extreem grote handen heb, had het handvat voor mij wat dikker/forser gemogen. Ik krijg niet zozeer hotspots maar vind dat gewoon orettiger en minder vermoeiend. Het thermorun is wel comfortabel en zeker ook met natte handen of bij koud weer (laatste uit eerdre ervaring met F1).

Heb het mes zelf nog niet hoeven slijpen maar kan het tot nu toe, makkelijk met stroppen goed bijhouden. Of het nou aan de F1 t.o.v. de S1 ligt of een verbetering is van de Pro serie maar de convex is bij de laatste veel geleidelijker waardoor deze hout makkelijker snijdt.

Ondanks het geld voor de liefhebber, of voor iemand die echt van het mes afhankelijk is (of zou kunnen worden) een absolute aanrader.

De S1 pro stond in bestelling en levering zou mogelijk nog een week duren, maar na 3 dagen had ik deze werkbeul al in huis. Ik heb echt gekozen voor een praktisch en sterk mes (dik lemmet, afwasbaar zo ook de foedraal), mijn tweede optie was een Bark River maar die vond ik te mooi voor de bush. (hout en lederen foedraal). 
De S1 pro is gemaakt voor het grove werk (batonneren) en blijft lange tijd scherp volgens alle reviews. Te samen met de waterdichte box, standaard Zytel en DC 10 slijpsteen voor mij de meest logische keuze.. In mei gaat ie mee op bushcraft en dan kijken hoe de S1 pro het doet!

Der Allrounder aus der Pro Familie. 
Ich habe das F1 Pro, das S1 Pro und das A1 Pro. Hat man alle drei, wählt man nach aktueller Aufgabenstellung. Ansonsten bietet das S1 Pro den besten Kompromiss aus Stabilität,  Führigkeit und Handling. Leider in Deutschland nicht 42a konform. 
Der COS Stahl ist von der Schnitthaltigkeit und Zähigkeit her durchaus mit dem bei Bark River verwendeten CPM 3V vergleichbar, also ein hervorragender Stahl. Vorteil COS: es ist ein rostfreier / rostträger Stahl. Der Griff mag am Anfang etwas rau und überstrukturiert anmuten, schmiegt sich aber nach ein paar Tagen Nutzung sehr angenehm und sicher - auch mit nassen Händen - in die Hand. Die Scheide ist lang nicht so schlimm, wie überall zu lesen. Im Gegenteil. Sie ist absolut robust und outdoortauglich, hat das Messer auch ohne Betätigen des Drucknopfes sicher im Griff und das Messer lässt sich bei Bedarf dennoch leicht und schnell ziehen. Der DC4 Schärfstein ist durchaus geeignet, im Outdooreinsatz eine brauchbare Schärfe zu halten. Die meisten werden durch die Qualitäten des COS Stahls aber kaum in die Verlegenheit kommen, das Messer im Feld nachschleifen zu wollen, außer man ist mal mehrere Wochen im Dauereinsatz. 

Fazit: Tolles Teil, auch wenn die Preisgestaltung seitens Fällkniven etwas drüber ist. Das Messer besteht auch im Vergleich mit meinen geliebten Bark River Messern in allen Belangen. Die Präsentation in der schönen und nützlichen Box ist durchaus ein kleines Trostpflaster für den happigen Preis.
