The **Fällkniven A1xb** is a top-quality outdoor knife, suited for many different users. Bushcraft and survival enthusiasts, hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts have known for years that Fällkniven produces amazing knives This A1xb is a full-tang version of their Fällkniven A1.



The Fällkniven A1x is also called the 'Expedition Knife'. So adventurous. Because of its royal blade size we also like to call it the 'bushcraft sword'. You use it for many different tasks, but it excels during the more demanding tasks. Because of its 7 mm thick blade it is also quite heavy. As such you can also easily split wood.



The Fällkniven X collection is the first of this Swedish brand with a *full-tang* construction. This means that the tang of the blade runs throughout the entire handle. This is stronger dan other construction methods. The scales are mounted to both sides of the tang. These are still made from Thermorun. This is an elastic plastic that absorbs blows and offers a lot of grip. These scales even offer more grip than the handle of the normal A1.



The blade is made from laminated CoS steel.
This means that the CoS core is placed in between two layers of softer, more stainless steel. As such the blade can handle a lot more. You can easily sharpen the CoS core and it will retain its sharpness for a long time.



## Fällkniven’s convex grind


Like all fixed Fällkniven knives this knife was enhanced with a convex grind. This has important advantages. A convex edge, for instance, can be sharpened razor-sharp, is relatively stong and offers less cutting resistance. The 'shoulders' that are usually attached to a regular v-edge in the transition from the edge to the side of the blade, are missing. As such using a convex edge is absolutely amazing. ## The black xb version


The blade of this B-version is black. And not because a simple coating: Fällkniven added a special tungsten carbide coating. With a hardness of 83HRC it is even harder than the blade itself! A couple tests with hard blocks of wood carried out by Fällkniven demonstrated that this coating is wear and tear resistant. It also looks very cool! You cannot see it clearly in photographs, but the coating is enhanced with remarkable greyish glow. Stunning.



This Fällkniven A1xb comes with a Zytel sheath. Fällkniven upgraded this as well by adding an additional retention lever. With it you can secure the knife in the sheath. As such it won't rattle, and you won't lose it. A nice upgrade!

Le couteau est superbe, grosse impression de qualité. La lame a des reflets vraiment top , coupe trés bien.
Le gros bémol concerne la prise en main. Le manche est vraiment desagreable et empeche de le tenir fermement sans ressentir une douleur a l’interieur de la main si l’on ne porte pas de gants… pour cette raison , il semble facile de remplacer les 2 plaques de chaque coté tenues seulement par des vis que l’on peut trouver sur le site de Fallkniven. Je vais sculpter 2 plaques de remplacement en chenes ou noyer ou buis ou chataigner et refixer le tout pour un rendu meilleur et surtout des mains épargnées par la désagréable rugosité de ce materiau.

Het is heel belangrijk om te beseffen dat niet gewoon een allround mesje is om mee te nemen als je gaat kamperen. Fallkniven noemt dit met recht hun expedition mes.
Het is een zwaar, stevig survival mes met een dikke rug. Dit mes is een gebouwd als een tank en gaat je zeker niet teleurstellen.
De coating oogt prachtig en gaat de levensduur van het mes zeker ten goede komen. 
Tot slot houdt de foedraal het mes goed vast.
Met dit mes ga je geen appel schillen (daar is het veel te dik voor) maar voor het zwaardere werk is dit uitermate geschikt.

Het enige "nadeel" is dat het mes "out of the box" niet super scherp is. Je kan er zeker al een boompje mee omhakken of hout klieven maar het gaat geen armharen scheren. Na een paar minuten op een goede slijpsteen en een strop wordt het echter super scherp.

Du solide! Il prend cher sur le terrain, rien à dire, fiable, robuste! Une marque de référence pour les amateurs de techniques de survies. 

Mais quel couteau, parfait pour tout faire dans la nature.
Un compagnon idéal malgré ses 400 grammes, une fois en main, rien ne vous arrêtera, surtout pas son tranchant.
En version black, il sera discret, et moins aveuglant avec le soleil.
J'en suis tombé amoureux....
Le prix reste une étape à franchir, mais une fois arrivé à la maison, vous saurez pourquoi.
