The **Chris Reeve Inkosi** is a high-end pocket knife, designed by knifemaker Chris Reeve. Inkosi means *Chief* in Zulu. It is the smaller incarnation of the famous Sebenza 25 model, but also has its own features. It features the same oversized pivot, as well as the extra finger cut-out in the handle. Like with the Sebenza 25, the stand-off and the lanyard pin function as one at the back of the handle. The thumb stud on both sides of the blade is also a common feature. The blade is 8% thicker than that of the Small 21 Sebenza and has a *large hollow grind*. This means the blade will last even longer after sharpening, without sacrificing strength. As we commonly see in high-end pocket knives, Chris Reeve has enhanced the Inkosi with a ceramic detent ball.


The real differences, however, can be found in the gigantic oversized washers. They only just fit inside the handle, that's how big they are. This, combined with the thick pivot, ensures that the blade moves smoothly. The washer on the lockside has an angular cut-out to make sure the lockbar can pass it. There is a protrusion on the washers towards the stop pin so that they can't rotate. This stop pin is even stronger than the one on the 21 Small Sebenza. The pocket clip is also turned a couple of degrees so that it falls on the frame and not on the lockbar. The jimping has been milled in a beautiful alternating pattern. Like all Chris Reeve knives, the Chris Reeve Inkosi is razor-sharp upon delivery.


The Chris Reeve Inkosi comes with a set of Allen keys, fluorinated grease, and loctite 222MS.

Zoals verwacht een mesje met een superieure bouwkwaliteit en sobere doch luxe verpakking voorzien van alle sleuteltjes en smeermiddeltjes om dit mes zelf te onderhouden. Chris Reeve is dan ook van de weinigen die mensen stimuleert om hun messen zelf uit elkaar te halen en weer in elkaar te zetten voor het onderhoud. Top! Vooral omdat na montage alle onderdelen weer als vanzelf perfect op hun plaats terecht komen en er nergens speling te merken is.

De afmeting is ideaal voor dagelijks gebruik, de materiaalkeuze voor deze prijs waarschijnlijk niet exotisch genoeg maar de titanium is van onberispelijke kwaliteit en S35vn is een staalsoort die makkelijk zelf te slijpen is. 

Mocht je vallen voor een klein model van Chris Reeve hou er dan rekening mee dat de Inkosi een fractie kleiner is dan de small Sebenza. In de praktijk zul je hier echter niks van merken. Qua ergonomie past het mes bij mij persoonlijk perfect in de hand en zitten alle uitsparingen in de scales op de juiste plek om ergonomisch goed aan te voelen. Heb je handen die eerder aan de grote kant zijn dan kan ik me voorstellen dat het mes niet comfortabel aanvoelt. In dat geval toch voor het grote model kiezen of bij andere merken kijken.

Al met al geen koopje maar wel een goeie koop.

Een strak vormgegeven zakmes. Ik had de bijpassende leren hoes klein er ook bijbesteld en dan heb je een mooie combo.

Als je echt grote handen heb is dit mes te klein. Ik vind het formaat goed bruikbaar.

Mijn 4e Chris Reeve en niet zonder reden. Afwerking top, kwaliteit top, gebruikte materialen top. Het is dus een mes van uitstekende kwalitieien waar je geen miskoop aan kan doen. Chris Reeve heeft met dit kleine mesje zichzelf weer overtroffen
