The **Ardennes Coticule 712 Belgian Blue sharpening steel** is a 20 cm long sharpening steel made from 100% Belgian natural stone. This sharpening stone is perfect for sharpening wood carving knives, chisels, and other knives with a curved edge.


This Ardennes Coticule sharpening steel was made by hand. Small irregularities can therefore not be excluded.


## Belgian Blue Whetstone


The Belgian Blue Whetstones from Ardennes Coticule are natural sharpening stones with unique features. The sharpening stones consist of 30% garnets. These are particles that are released as you use it and make sure the stone can do what it is meant to: sharpen your knives. It is a 100% natural product from the Belgian Ardennes and each sharpening stone is modified by hand. Little differences in terms of shape, colour and size can therefore occur.


## Use


Make sure you add water to the sharpening steel before use. You don't need to submerge it for a specific period of time. The grain size of this sharpening steel corresponds with a 4000 grit Japanese sharpening stone. However, do keep in mind that the pressure you apply as you use the stone will also affect the coarseness of the stone. If you apply a lot of pressure more particles will be released. As such it will become even coarser. If you apply less pressure less particles will be released. Because these particles slowly wear out this sharpening steel will become finer in time.

Je ne m'attendais pas à trouver un fusil en coticule bleue, et je l'ai pris surtout par curiosité.
Si l'on sait s'en servir, c'est un outil efficace.
Le fait qu'il ne soit pas parfaitement rond n'est pas gênant, et rajoute même de l'authenticité.

Until not understood how to use correctly

Wat iemand anders al schreef, deze ronde staaf is niet echt rond. Voor mij geen echt probleem.

Ik liet hem per ongeluk vallen op een redelijk zacht vloer en de staaf brak in tweeen. Wederom voor mij geen probleem want ik wilde deze toch al in stukken zagen. Nu heb ik drie slijpstaafjes, waarvan 1 van ongeveer 5 cm waar ik een gat in heb geboord, en deze kan ik nu als hanger om mijn nek dragen 'viking sharpening pendant'. 

De steen polijst de snijrand mooi van mijn messen welke voelbaar scherper worden. Uiteraard is deze steen voor het fijnere werk.
