The **Shizu Hamono Gifu Collection steak knife** is a very stylish and small Japanese kitchen knife with serrations. The serrated blades ensure the knives retain their sharpness for a longer period of time. In addition, the serrations make the knife much more versatile. For instance, it's ideal for cutting pizza or small bread rolls at breakfast and lunch. The remarkable forging method and the luxurious handle material ensure that not only the whole looks amazing, but is also amazing to use. The knife was made in Seki, Japan by artisan knife makers using traditional techniques.

## Shizu Hamono Gifu damascus steel with a core made from VG10 steel

The kitchen knives in this collection have a blade made of hard and stainless VG10 steel, enveloped by beautiful damascus steel. This damascus steel is created by forging together two types of steel with different carbon contents. After forging, they are treated with an oxidising agent. The steel with a higher carbon content becomes a darker shade than the other steel, resulting in a brilliant pattern. The core of VG10 steel ensures excellent cutting properties and is easy to resharpen yourself should the knife lose some of its sharpness over time.

## Shizu Hamono Gifu handle made from laminated hardwood

The handle is at least as remarkable as the blade. The handle is made from pakka wood. This is a wood and resin composite that is wear and tear resistant. The faceted lines are inspired by the folded paper shapes of origami. The dark handle provides a nice contrast to the silver blade.

## Shizu Hamono Gifu Collection

The Shizu Hamono Gifu kitchen knives are part of the Sebastian Conran Gifu collection. This collection is a unique and ongoing collaboration between Sebastian Conran's design studio in London and 14 traditional artisans in Gifu, Japan. The collection includes more than 100 products, including tableware made from hand-glazed ceramics, handmade furniture and these fabulous Shizu Hamono Gifu kitchen knives.
