The **Nontron No.22** is a classic pocket knife from France. The No. 22 has an 8 cm long blade. With it the No. 22 is one of the more compact pocket knives from the Nontron range. 

### French T12 steel

The blade of this Nontron knife is made from French T12 steel. Forged in the Forge de Laguiole workshop. This steel is stainless. Perfect for food prep during a picnic to cutting a steak in a fancy restaurant. You traditionally open the blade with two handes. 

### Turning ferrule lock

This knife is enhanced with a ferrule lock. A ferrule is a ring that rotates around the pivot. As such the blade is blocked to make sure it won't accidentally close. 

### Box wood handle

The handle is made from box wood. This wood comes from French soil and is left to dry for 4 years before it is used. It has a stunning, light colour. The V-symbol in burned in the handle with the help of pyrography. 

### Ball shaped handle

The end of the handle is round. The broad end ensures that your hand won't slip from the handle and it also looks amazing. 

## Nontron pocket knives: revival of the oldest French pocket knife

Ever since the 16th century, Coutellerie Nontronnaise has been producing pocket knives in the French village of Nontron. As such Nontron is the oldest, still existing knife brand in France. Like before, these knives are still produced by hand. Characterizing for a Nontron knife is the reversed V-symbol. Burned in the wooden handle with the help of pyrography. The reversed V is an old and mysterious symbol of which the origin is unknown. Regardless of its historical significance, the charm of a Nontron knife is absolutely timeless!

Voor m'n vrouw dr verjaardag gekocht. 
De prijs/kwaliteit is erg goed.
En de geschiedenis van het merk sprak ons beide aan, ook deels omdat ze half Frans is.
En zoals altijd is de service erg goed van knivesandtools. 

Als Sammler hochwertiger Taschenmesser (Laguiole, Thiers, Böker, etc.) war ich von diesem Nontron mehr als enttäuscht. Als Viertes Stück dieser ältesten Marke aus Frankreich hätte es in meine Vitrine kommen sollen. Fazit, es landete in einer Werkzeugkiste.
Noch nie hatte ich so einen Müll in Händen!
Ob es wohl daran liegt, dass heute "Forge de Laguiole" dieses Unternehmen im Billigsegment führt, weiß ich nicht.
Doch ein Messer, das nach dem Öffnen nicht hält und von selbst wieder zu einem Viertel zusammenklappt ist einfach unbrauchbar.
Womöglich Pech gehabt ... aber empfehlen kann ich es somit nicht!
