The **MKM Malga 6** is a high-end pocket knife, in the style of the famous Swiss pocket knives. And yet this knife is produced a little more south: in Maniago, Italy. It is made from amazing materials.



With many of these types of knives the emphasis is placed on the different tools. The type of steel used is never highlighted. MKM turned this around for the Malga 6. The tools are great, but the blade stands out. The blade is made from Böhler M390 Steel. An extremely wear and tear and corrosion resistant type of steel. It retains its sharpness well to make sure you don't have to sharpen it often. As such the MKM Malga 6 is a top-quality, high-end EDC pocket knife.



The handle also looks amazing. Often these types of knives are enhanced with a handle made from plastic or aluminium. Maybe G10. But MKM decided to use stunning micarta for this handle. This is a composite material made from canvas and synthetic resin. It looks great and offers enough grip. But even better is the patina this micarta forms: because of the greases in your hands it can change colour a little. As such each knife will become unique!



In addition to the blade there are five other foldable tools. A bottle opener with screw driver, a can opener, corkscrew, awl and a fork for during a picnic. All tools can be opened with two hands. They are kept in place by slipjoints. So not a real lock. Only resistance. As such the MKM Malga 6 is legal in many countries.



## Where does MKM Knives come from?


MKM is a cooperation between Viper, LionSteel, Fox and Mercury. Four masters working in the Italian knife industry. It is no coincidence that they all come from the city: Maniago, northern Italy. The knife capital of the south of Europe. MKM stands for Maniago Knife Makers. This MKM Malga is made by Mercury.

Es gäbe für mich eigentlich keinen Grund ein andere Multitool, als ein VIC zu wählen, jedoch der Stahl ist einfach nicht geeignet für härtere Aufgaben.
Dieses Messer ist einfach eine ganz andere Liga durch den Stahl!
Es wird per Hand zusammen gesetzt.
Alles läuft sauber und gut verarbeitet.

Klar, out of the Box kann man im Fit und Finish kaum ein VIC schlagen!
Aber das Messer bekommt von mir eine klar Empfehlung, auch wenn es etwas grob wirkt, im Vergleich zum VIC.

Aber man kann es komplett zerlegen, wenn man es kann…

Es gibt nur wenige Messer die sich als Picknick und gleichzeitig als echtes EDC-Messer eignen. Der Preis scheint auf den ersten Blick etwas hoch, aber die Klinge aus M390 und die hervorragende Verarbeitung des Messers überraschen. Die Werkzeuge rasten sauber und fest in der geöffneten und geschlossenen Stellung exakt ein. Dazu sind die Griffschalen auch noch auswechselbar. Einziger kleiner Kritikpunkt ist die nicht angeschliffene Bohr-Näh und Stechale. Aber alles in allem ein sehr schönes Messer, das ich immer öfter dabei habe. 

Wat een heerlijk mes! Slechts 4 sterren bij prijs-kwaliteit omdat ik het een best goedbetaald stukje gereedschap vind.
Natuurlijk snijdt het geweldig met m390. 
De rest van de tools zijn helemaal ok, niks bijzonders tov elk andere zwitser. Doen precies wat ze moeten doen. Altijd wel een oplossing met deze set mogelijkheden.
Het behoeft inmiddels eigenlijk geen extra vermelding meer dat de orderafhandeling van KATO super snel en correct is!
Inmiddels ben ik eraan gewend maar afmeting net wat groter dan de vic die ik totnogtoe gebruikte.
