The **Gerber Prodigy** is a robust, fixed knife made in the United States. Any knife enthusiast will immediately notice it: this knife is based on the incredibly popular Gerber LMF II, only smaller. This knife has also been designed for people who need to be able to rely on their knife. Whether you go out into the jungle, the desert, or simply into the woods around the corner: the Prodigy will definitely help you out.


The 420HC steel blade is very solid. However, at the same time it is not too big for simple tasks around the campsite. The matte black, ceramic coating prevents reflections and rust. The tang of the blade extends to the end of the handle. Here the steel slightly sticks out enabling you to use it to break something. Think, for instance, of collecting clams stuck to a rock in the water, a task you definitely don’t want to use your knife for.


The handle itself is made from FRN: glass reinforced nylon. Light-weight and very strong. For additional grip Gerber has added an extra rubber *overmould* around this core. An additional layer with a diamond pattern.


Striking about a knife in this price range is the very luxurious sheath that comes with the Prodigy. Whether you carry it around left-handed, right-handed, vertically or horizontally on your belt or attached to a MOLLE-vest: the Prodigy will feel at home wherever you put it.

Degelijk aanvoelend en scherp mes. Ligt goed in de hand.

De bijpassende schede beschermt wel goed de snede van het mes, maar niet de uitstekende scherpe punt aan de achterkant en omdat ik mijzelf daar niet aan wil openhalen het mes teruggestuurd.

De levering was snel (binnen een dag) en de retour is ook netjes afgehandeld.

Alors pour être direct, si vous cherchez un couteau ( extrêmement ) solide/robuste et fiable, foncez ! C’est un couteau exceptionnel qui répondra à toutes vos attentes. Il est en effet doté d’un look tactique et son étui ( d’une très bonne qualité ) renforce ce look, mais il sera très bien également pour vos bivouacs ou sorties bushcraft ! En bref, c’est un couteau qui tiendra bon toute votre vie et sera un compagnon de confiance. 

2 stuks van gekocht…als mes voor mijn verzameling. Ik ben al z’on 40 jaar een enorme liefhebber van kwaliteits messen. De gerber prodigy hoort hier zeker ook in thuis. Het is een mooi afgewerkt mes. Beide messen waren netjes en scherp geslepen. Goed zwaartepunt en voorzien van een zeer fijne greep. Voor deze prijsklasse een mooie sheat.  Mes is gemaakt in de usa. Sheat is gemaakt in China maar zit netjes in elkaar. Kan op verschillende manieren gedragen worden. Er zit zelfs een los riempje in de doos waarmee je het mes om je been kan vast maken waardoor het niet alle kanten op beweegt tijdens lopen/rennen. Rond deze tijd van schrijven is alles duurder geworden. Zo is de prijs van een mes ook een heel stuk omhoog gegaan. Soms is een mes wel 30€ duurder geworden tegenover een aantal jaar geleden. Jammer maar onvermijdelijk. De prijs voor dit mes is gezien de kwaliteit zeer netjes. 420 staal is ontzettend taai en zou niet snel breken of chippen. Is alleen wel wat eerder bot dan duurdere exotische staalsoorten. Kortom…. Gewoon een goed mes waar je lang plezier van zult hebben bij allerlei klussen of voor gewoon in je rugzak. Trouwens mes was prima verpakt door knife en tools. Was de volgende dag al in huis.

Super schönes Messer, im ersten Einsatz hat es sich voll und ganz bewährt. Der Preis war unschlagbar. Liegt perfekt in der Hand. Würde mir das immer wieder holen. Habe nach meiner Meinung nichts auszusetzen bzw. zu bemängeln. Kann es nur weiterempfehlen.

Alleen de schede....

Deze bestaat uit stevig kunststof en een soort nylon.
Deze 2 delen zitten op elkaar dmv schroefjes (geen probleem) en lusjes met klittenband,
Op zich niks mis mee zou je zeggen, maar als je alleen de kunststof schede wil gebruiken, kom je er achter dat dit niet gaat.
Het onderste lusje zit vast genaaid waardoor de delen niet los kunnen.
Heb dit door een schoenmaker laten veranderen.
Waarom een schede zo maken dat het lijkt dat je het naar je eigen smaak kunt maken, maar dit niet kan vanwege 1 lusje
Snap niet dat zo'n groot bekend merk als Gerber zo een domme fout kan maken en daarom krijg dit mes minder punten.
