The **Bark River Smoke Jumper** is a cool fixed knife, designed in the United States. Remarkable about this knife is the addition of the sub-hilt on the handle. A sort of second knife guard which falls in between your index and middle finger. As such the knife won't fall from your hands, no matter how you use it.



The blade is made from CPM 3CV-steel. A tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. As such it won't break and will retain its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can maintain by [stropping it](/en/ct/stropping.htm).



The handle is made from canvas micarta. A strong and light-weight material, made from linen and synthetic resin. Feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold circumstances. The handle is enhanced with a double knife guard, and a sub-hilt. The amount of manual labour involved is unimaginable for a (semi-)production knife such as this.



The Bark River Smoke Jumper comes with a nice leather belt sheath. Great for both left and right-handed use.



Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
